Solo saxophone at the ceremony if you'd like, the full quartet from the welcome drinks to the end of dinner — after which we hand over smoothly to the DJ.
Looking for a wedding jazz band that doesn't drown out the conversation? The Jazz in the Shade quartet sets the mood from the welcome drinks through to dinner with melodic jazz standards, at a volume that suits the room.
Optional solo saxophone — restrained, dignified accompaniment from the walk down the aisle to the vows.
The quartet plays at a volume you can talk over — the conversation stays centre stage. A trio where space is particularly tight.
A quiet quartet, melodic jazz standards alongside the meal, in sets of about an hour with short breaks.
We hand over to the DJ — no awkward silence in between.
We read the room throughout, so your guests can talk comfortably with the music playing.
We don't depend on the venue's equipment — so you get the same quality everywhere.
We never use more of the room than we need to.
If you let us know in advance, we're happy to learn a new song for the walk down the aisle, the cake-cutting or the opening of the ceremony — as long as the request fits our style and stays true to jazz.

Yes — at most venues we work with our own system and don't depend on the room's equipment. If there is a DJ for the evening, we often share their sound system: it is simpler, the breaks are covered musically, the final handover is smoother, and it costs less than bringing a second system.
Typically from the welcome drinks through to the end of dinner, about three to four hours, split into sets. If the evening includes dancing, we hand over to the DJ once our background sets are done.
Yes, that is possible if you let us know in advance — usually for the walk down the aisle, the cake-cutting or the opening of the ceremony. The request does need to fit our style and stay true to jazz.
